Commissions to determine disposition of lots
On May 1, Sarasota County and City of North Port commissioners will discuss the disposition of 73 lots in the city that remain unsold after four online auctions.
To date, the county and city have sold 2,100 lots through a successful online auction process conducted by Fisher Auction Company, the firm selected by the county and city to conduct the sale. The auction generated almost $65 million for the two governments with 55 percent going to the city and the remaining 45 percent going to the county. The lots came into public ownership after the former owners failed to pay property taxes.
The two commissions are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the North Port City Hall, 4970 City Hall Boulevard. Staff from the county and city will present options for disposing of the lots to the commissioners during the meeting.
