Realtors and potential bidders for 1,900 North Port lots are invited to a free seminar from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the North Port Performing Arts Center on the North Port High School Campus, 6400 W. Price Blvd. The seminar will be conducted by Fisher Auction Company, the firm hired by Sarasota County to sell the vacant lots.

The seminar will cover Internet bidding procedures, how to register as a bidder, minimum bids and other topics. The information will help prepare bidders and Realtors for the first online bidding session, which begins Thursday, Jan. 19.

Representatives from Sarasota County, the City of North Port, the title company, the Internet bidding firm and the auction company will attend.

Fisher Auction Company’s North Port auction headquarters is at 7050 S. Chancellor Blvd. The phone number is (941) 423-7135. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.

Further information on the auction can be found at Fisher Auction Company’s Web site.

The lots offered at auction became the property of Sarasota County when their owners failed to pay back taxes. Proceeds from the sale of the lots will be split, with the City of North Port receiving 55 percent and Sarasota County 45 percent.

Fisher Auction Company to open North Port office

Fisher Auction Company, the firm selected by Sarasota County to market and sell at auction over 1900 residential lots in the city of North Port, will hold a grand opening of its new North Port office at 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. The office is located in the former North Port Yacht Club building at 7050 S. Chancellor Blvd.

The grand opening, originally scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10, was rescheduled for Monday to avoid conflicts with the city’s annual Poinsettia Parade.

Beginning Dec. 12, regular hours at the Fisher Auction Company’s North Port office will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.

Five to eight Fisher representatives will staff the office. Services available include computer terminals and maps showing the entire inventory of lots. A representative of a local lending institution will also be available to advise potential bidders.

The auction will occur in two phases: a primarily online auction conducted from Jan. 19 through Feb. 20, followed on Tuesday, Feb. 28, by a live auction at the North Port Performing Arts Center on the campus of North Port High School on Price Boulevard. Fully interactive online bidding will also be available during the live auction.

“I am extremely happy with the community support and interest in this important auction,” said Louis Fisher III, CEO of Fisher Auction Co., Inc.
